IMPROVING STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY BY USING WORDWALL MEDIA
Abstract
Vocabulary mastery is a person's knowledge of vocabulary which includes the meaning, written form, and pronunciation so that misunderstandings do not occur in communicating with others. Word wall is one of the learning methods that are considered quite effective in increasing students' vocabulary. This study aims those students can improve students' vocabulary skills by using a word wall media. This study used the classroom action research method proposed by Kemmis and MC. Taggart has four steps in each cycle, namely; planning, action, observation, and reflection. The finding of this research suggests that it is accurate; this study was declared successful with 1 cycle because it was seen from the results of the students' scores increased from the pretest to the posttest. The students' average pretest was 62 while the post-test result was 76. In addition, students became more enthusiastic and more active during learning. Then these results indicate that word wall can be used as a medium in learning to improve students’ vocabulary mastery
